Professional Conference in Memory of Anna Tardos
This conference is organised to honour Anna Tardos’s professional legacy and to reflect on the significance of her work. She leaves behind an exceptionally rich and multifaceted body of work, as she made outstanding contributions across several fields. The conference will highlight three of these key areas:
I.ANNA TARDOS’S WORK IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Anna was a master of transmitting the Piklerian Approach. Through her writings and lectures, she shaped the perspectives of generations of professionals, convincing them of the possibility of a more respectful approach to early childcare. She advocated for high-quality caregiving and education with great conviction at every professional forum.
II. ANNA TARDOS’S STUDIES AND RESEARCH
Anna was an outstanding observer and a scientific thinker. She explored multiple aspects of infant and early childhood development. Some of her research has been published or presented in lectures, while other, lesser-known but equally valuable studies and observations remain in manuscript form.
III. ANNA TARDOS AS AN ADVOCATE FOR CHILDREN
It was a central goal of Anna’s work to ensure that the perspectives and needs of young children are taken into account within families and in institutional settings as well. This commitment runs throughout her entire body of work and is reflected in numerous written documents and interviews focusing on this topic.
During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to learn about some less well-known aspects of Anna Tardos’s work through presentations by Hungarian and international professionals who were her colleagues and collaborators.
